Daily Prompt: Value

via Daily Prompt: Value

Great value.  This term seems to be most frequent these days when describing the purchase of paper towels or light bulbs.  It is no longer a significant qualifier of position or power.  And yet, we all have values.  Money.  Family.  Friends.  Laughter.  Entertainment.  Security.  Freedom.  Ourselves?  Things that are important to us seem to have value.  But are there things that have intrinsic value?  Would liberty still have value if all were willing to sacrifice it on the altar of security?  This, of course, comes back to the Absolute.  Moral relativism means value relativism means everything relativism.  “If you argue correctly, you’re never wrong” says the principal, not principled, character in Thank You For Smoking.  Is that how we feel?  As long as we have the numbers, right?  It’s not just might that makes right; it’s majority.  (Or vocal minority masquerading as majority)  There are some things I skipped on my first list.  Faith, hope, love, life, joy.  God?  Oh, my.  Could it be that everything is value added?  Creation without Creator is not possible.  Do you feel valued?  You are.  You are loved.  And it has nothing to do with paper towels or light bulbs.
